Special effects in animated movies have come a very long way in recent years, and few people know that better than Marlon West. Marlon is an amazing artist and animator who grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and began his animation journey as a young kid by making stop-motion animation films on his Super 8 camera. After studying at Columbia College Chicago, Marlon worked on various animation projects before landing a job as a Special Effects Animator at Walt Disney Animation in the early '90s, working on Disney classics like "The Lion King", "Hercules" and "Fantasia 2000". Marlon is now the Head of Effects Animation at Walt Disney Animation Studios. In this interview, Marlon talks about what his life was like growing up, how he became inspired to work in effects animation, and what excites him about the future of special effects.
