About Schoolism

Over 10 years of educating

“To become the best, you must learn from the best.”

This is the main idea that drove concept artist, Bobby Chiu, to create Schoolism. Bobby, who is one of the co-founders of Imaginism Studios along with Kei Acedera, wanted to expand his art knowledge by learning from the industry's best.

So, he sought them out.

When Bobby was a teacher in college, he hosted the Toronto Subway Sketch Group for five years where he taught anyone who attended for free. Teaching is extremely important to him and has always been a part of what drives him as an artist. It is in his blood to try to motivate and inspire others while also pushing his own skills further and further.

Democratized education across the globe

Before Schoolism even had a name, it was the seed of a simple idea: Bobby and Kei wanted to learn from the top professionals in the industry. And as often happens, this little idea sprouted and grew quickly. With the help and advice of other inspirational artists, Bobby formulated a plan to learn from his heroes by harnessing the power of the internet. Almost immediately, it was apparent that this idea could benefit not just Bobby and Kei but artists everywhere if they could bring that education to the world and project it globally.

So Schoolism was born.

As anyone who has been to art college knows, top art education is prohibitively expensive and the students who are lucky enough to get in remain in debt for many years after they've finished their programs.

Schoolism bridges this gap by also making this elite education available to anyone anywhere in the world, because we believe your dream shouldn't be limited by where you live or what you can afford. If you're passionate, you want to learn, and you're willing to work hard, we want to do what we can to make the best education available to you.

By artists, for artists

Schoolism was created by artists to benefit artists; even our Help Desk is staffed by artists, so we get it. We understand the highs and lows, the struggles and the joys that come with creating something. We understand how important it is for you to be able to put your imagination down on paper, to share a really cool idea or character that you've been thinking about since high school, or to tell a story that will knock someone's socks off. We understand that drive all too well, and it's why Schoolism is so tailored to the needs of the artist: because we can put ourselves in your shoes and understand exactly where you are coming from, because that's where we come from too.

Learn the way you want

Schoolism offers different ways to learn that suit your lifestyle and needs as an artist. You can have our entire library available to you and go at your own pace with a monthly or yearly Schoolism Subscription. Or if you want more structured, one-on-one instruction with your teacher, Critiqued Sessions provide you with a scheduled program and personalized feedback videos of your instructor drawing and painting over your assignments. Either way, when you take a Schoolism class, you are learning from an in-demand artist who is doing the work that you want to do, at the level you want to do it at.
